Abdullah Al-Zahrani Shatters Goal Record at Al Rayyan
Abdullah Al-Zahrani has set a new record for the most goals scored in a single season by any player in Qatar Stars League history.
The Al Rayyan striker's achievement came in his side's 6-1 win over Al Sadd on Sunday, with Al-Zahrani netting five times to take his total to 29 goals this term.
This marks a significant milestone for Al-Zahrani, who had previously been tied for the top goal scorer in the league with fellow striker Almoez Ali.
Al-Zahrani's haul has also put him ahead of previous records held by former Al Sadd and Al Rayyan players such as Hossam El-Mir and Khaled Al-Saleh.
With just four matches remaining in the regular season, Al-Zahrani is now one of only three players in the history of the Qatari football league to have scored more than 25 goals in a single campaign.
His performances have not gone unnoticed either, with Al-Zahrani being named the top scorer in the league earlier this month.
Despite the impressive form, Al-Zahrani remains humble about his achievements, saying that he is simply grateful to be playing in front of such a passionate crowd.
"I'm just happy to be here and play my best," he said. "I want to continue doing what I can do and help my team achieve our goals."
Al-Zahrani's success is a testament to his hard work and dedication to the sport, and it will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the greatest seasons in the history of the Qatari football league.
